52,400

In 1977, Matti Kuusi (Professor of Folklore at the University of Helsinki in the 1950’s and member of the Academy of Finland) estimated that the number of magic incantations collected from all over Finland and Karelia, preserved in the Finnish Literature Society Folklore Archives stood at approximately 52,400.

I’m probably going to re-post some photos because I haven’t found as many good ones this season, so I hope long time followers will understand. I’m also thinking of starting a broader Finno-Ugric side blog, mostly about mythology, folklore traditions etc. and naming it FU forever and always but I hope that won’t seem offensive to my fellow FU’s.
